Donny took the 1980s as a time to focus on his new family and his solo career, pursuing various avenues of acting and musical performance, including appearances on "Love Boat" and releasing the album "Soldier of Love" which was referred to by the industry as "The comeback of the 80's"

    I was so thrilled when this album came out, as we'd not had anything from Donny for years! 'Soldier of Love' obviously the hit from the album, but I loved, & still do, 'Sacred Emotion,' and 'If It's Love that you Want.' I think, though I'm not sure, that Donny released 'If It's Love that you Want' as his follow up to 'Soldier of Love' in the U.K., & as far as I'm concerned, it should have been a smash!

    I loved the song solider of love but then again all of the songs that Donny sings is so wonderful
