Question: For several months now I have been learning about the LDS Church using your Beliefs page, Bevs Country Cottage and of course lds.org from which I've been printing out the Book of Mormon.
I would very much like to have a proper copy of my own to study but lds.org is only offering the book with a visit from a missionary. Though I have come to believe (and believe me, it's taken along time for me to accept!) that my compulsion to learn is guided by Him, I don't feel ready to take any 'official' steps yet. But, I have not been able to track The Book down anywhere else.
Do you know where I can obtain a copy from? Also, are there any study guides available that will help me understand the finer points of what I've read so far?
Response: Thank you so much for your email. It makes me very happy when people become interested in the Book of Mormon, because I know from personal experience the tremendous things that can come to anyone who will "Seek, ask and Knock" (see Mathew 7:7) I believe that seek means study and ask means to pray. I have learned over and over again that studying the Book of Mormon and the Bible and praying about them can lead an honest seeker to the truth.
I can understand your desire to have a Book of Mormon to read before meeting the missionaries. If you will send me your address, I will have my friends in the UK send you a copy through the post. When you are ready, you can ask for a visit from the missionaries. In the meantime, may I invite you to check out the presentations by clicking on multimedia in My Beliefs on http://www.donny.com/info/beliefs_multimedia They will help you understand the place of the Book of Mormon in our faith.
Let me know where to send the book.
