Question: I know that you aren't supposed to watch R rated movies as a general rule. In reviewing movies as part of your profession, have you ever watched a PG-13 movie that you thought should've been rated R? From the trailers I see on TV, as a private every day individual, I think most should be. On the other side of the spectrum, there are very few PG-13 movies that I think should've been rated G. That new one by Jodie Foster (Nim's Island) is a prime example.
Funny, I sometimes notice the same thing happening for old movies (even our own era when we were kids...I'll be 46 in August) depending on the channel and/or time of day, even the day of the week. What was R (or X) back then is PG-13 now. (I actually walked out on Aliens…that's the worse movie ever as far as I'm concerned!)
Response: I wholeheartedly agree with you that the rating system is becoming more lax along with other moral standards of our society. I hope our families can survive the onslaught.
