I am an atheist. Why aren't you?

4/14/02

Question: I am an atheist. Why aren't you?

Response: The reason that I'm not an atheist is simply because I enjoy being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe in God the Eternal Father and in his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. I know that God has called prophets to the earth in these latter days. These men speak for him and guide the members of the church in righteousness.

I believe in the sanctity of the family and the sacred responsibility of parents in raising their children in a righteous home. I live by a law of health which encourages me to abstain from coffee, tea, alcohol, tobacco and harmful drugs, all of which strengthens me physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.

I believe that families can be together forever and that the end of this life is more than the bleak "nothingness" that those without God in their life presume it to be.

I believe in God. This brings me great inner peace and joy. I'm happy to be a member of this church and I must return the question, "Why aren't you?"
