Question: I'm hoping you get this because I've searched everywhere and cannot find anything on it. Anyway, one of my instructors, my english instructor, asked me about something to do with "worthy families" get their own planets? Have you heard anything about this?
Response: If I understand correctly, one of your English instructors asked you about an LDS belief that "worthy families" get their own planets. You wanted to know if I had ever heard anything about this.
There is no church doctrine that is worded like that. The only thing I can think of is that in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe in eternal progression. We know that if we live worthy lives on this earth that we will inherit the Celestial Kingdom and dwell with our Heavenly Father there throughout the eternities. I think it would be safe to assume that since our Heavenly Father has already created worlds without number, He will continue to do that in the future. Will we be called upon to help Him? We probably will, but as to this business of "worthy families" getting their own planet, all I can think of is that there are three degrees of glory: the Celestial, the Terrestial, and the Telestial. We know that this earth will be changed after the coming of the Savior. It will be purified and celestialized and moved from its current state and become that sphere upon which those who inherit the Celestial Kingdom will reside. I hope this is helpful.
