Do Mormons believe in psychics?
|
| Response |
You asked if Mormons believe in psychics. I presume by that you mean do Mormons believe in the value of psychics.
Obviously, there are many who claim "psychic powers" to help guide people in their daily decisions. Such things go against the beliefs of not only the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but Christianity in general. We believe that we are to be guided in this life by the spirit of the Lord and the
Holy Ghost who is our Comforter, and through the teachings of the Lord and his prophets which are found in scriptures, both ancient and modern. If
reality was that psychics are sent to guide our lives, there would be no necessity for the Lord to have sent us the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us while
we are here on this earth. We believe that those who claim psychic power do so mainly for the entertainment value. We do believe though that we all have
the ability and the right to receive personal inspiration from the Lord by and through the Holy Spirit.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
