I did read something the other day regarding marriage that concerns me. It stated that unless you where married in a particular type of LDS temple that God would not consider your marriage sealed for all eternity. I am not a member of the LDS but am a Christian. I believe that my husband and I are as sealed by our marriage vows as any couple in your church. Does your faith believe that only your marriages will last even past this lifetime? That other Christian marriages, who where married in God's eyes and his church, will not be together after this life on earth? I found that to be a troubling believe for me. Could you clear it up for me any?

You asked about temple marriages and if people who are not members of the church and are not sealed for "time and all eternity" in the temple will otherwise be sealed in the eternities. You said you believe that you and your husband would be sealed that way. I appreciate so much your faith and your strong belief in your relationship with your husband. I know that the Lord will bless you for it. In direct answer to your question, I would say that when you and your husband were married by whatever authority it was, whether your minister or a justice of the peace, your marriage vows were pronounced upon you and the concluding words to it stated "until death do you part" or something similar. If your marriage vows contained that wording, what should we think about it? When worthy members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on the other hand, go to the temple to have their marriage sealed there, it is done by the priesthood authority of one who has been so ordained and includes the words "sealed for time and all eternity." I know that you are troubled by this, as you said in your e-mail. I have no way to "clear it up." I know that as you seek the guidance and will of the Lord for all things in your life, you will come to know if what I have said is true. I hope this is helpful to you.
