It is going to be difficult for me to put into this short e-mail the necessary long answer to this question. On the Beliefs pages, you will find the story by Joseph Smith, who as the result of prayer concerning which of all the churches was right, was visited by God our Heavenly Father, and His Son Jesus Christ. Through Joseph, as he grew to be a man, Christ restored His original church, which He organized when He was upon the earth. It was restored in these last days on April 6, 1830. It is the same organization that existed in the original church. It has the same priesthood authority as Christ gave to His apostles Peter, James, and John when He organized the church originally. Its doctrine and ordinances are the same as found in Christ’s original church. All of it was done under the direction of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
