Question #1... There's a question all the time in my head I don't understand why if God loves us, and we are his children, He lets us suffer, lets some infants and children suffer all kinds of violations. As I understand He is the greatest and powerful, why he doesn't stop all misery, poorness, sickness, etc.

#2... what do you think about all these Virgin Mary appearances, if they are true why she doesn't go to the gangs, killers, violators, etc. and make them change.

Response You asked why God lets us suffer if God loves us and we are His children. Why does He allow little children to suffer all kinds of violations? Why doesn’t He just stop people from harming others? You asked why He does not stop all misery, poverty, sickness, etc.?

This is a very difficult question because it does seem natural that if we had power to stop people’s pain and suffering we would do it ourselves. But, we know that our ways are not always God’s ways and sometimes there are greater purposes for the things that we suffer.

I feel that no trial we experience is wasted. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, purifies our hearts, ministers to our education, and makes us more charitable, kind, and more able to be numbered amongst God’s choicest children.

When Jesus healed a blind man, His disciples said, "Lord, who sinned? This man or his parents, that he was born blind?" The Savior answered, "Neither this man nor his parents, but that the mysteries of God might be made manifest through him." We read in other places in the scriptures such as James chapter 1, verses 3 and 12, that there are blessings that come to those who are tried and tested.
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
We are tested and tried on this earth to prove ourselves faithful in all things. I do not know why God does not prevent helpless infants and other individuals from being hurt by people who are mean spirited. I’m confident that our Heavenly Father is mindful of these little ones and that those who injure them will be dealt out the most severe judgments in this life or the next, depending on the will of the Lord.

You asked what I thought about all of the Virgin Mary’s appearances and why she would not go to gangs, killers, violators, etc. and make them change. In answer to that, I can only say that I do not have enough information about "Virgin Mary appearances" to give a suitable response, but like all other things with our Heavenly Father, He does not "make" men change. He allows all of His children their own free agency and allows them to make their own decisions of what they do based upon their own light and knowledge of right and wrong. Sometimes those decisions harm others, but in the end, I know and I have faith in the fact that God will bless those who have been injured and those who have thoughtlessly harmed others will be punished to the fullest extent.

Sincerely,

Donny Osmond
