Question A TRUE MORMON BELIEVES THAT CHILDREN ARE SEALED TO THEM FOR ETERNITY. PERSONALLY, I BELIEVE THAT NOT EVERYONE CANNOT MAKE IT TO HEAVEN FOR THEIR SINS THEY COMMIT ON EARTH WITHOUT FORGIVENESS WHAT IF , AND I AM NOT JUDGING ANYONE, ONE OF THE FAMILY MEMBERS, INCLUDING WIFE, HUSBAND AND CHILDREN, DO NOT MAKE IT TO KINGDOM OF GOD? DO YOU FEEL THERE WOULD BE SORROW IN YOUR HEAVEN BECAUSE OF THAT? OR WHAT IF THE CHILD OR CHILDREN CHANGE RELIGIONS. ARE THEY STILL ETERNALLY SEALED WITH THEIR CHILDREN? .I AM SURE THAT HAS HAPPENNED..LIKE I SAID, I AM NOT JUDGING ANYONE AND NO MATTER WHAT OUR RELIGIOUS PREFERENCES ARE, WE ALL WORSHIP THE SAME GOD.. YOU SEEM LIKE A GOOD MAN, HUSBAND AND FATHER, AND I ADMIRE YOU FOR IT.

Response Worthiness to qualify for the gift of salvation to dwell with our Heavenly Father in his kingdom is an individual opportunity and challenge. Free agency, we believe, is an eternal prerogative and, as you have said, all are not going to accept and follow the teachings of the Lord. Even some who are sealed in the temple stray and unless they return to the "strait and narrow path" they will not see the Kingdom of God (see Matthew 7:13-14). That is why, in most cases, if a loved one strays, those who love that individual will likely never give up on trying to invite him or her back to the fold.

The parable of the lost sheep and the parable of the prodigal son in the 15th chapter of Luke are popular teachings in the Church. Our Father in Heaven loves each and every one of his children, even more than we love those whom he has placed in our care and he surely sorrows at the loss of any of them also, but the fullness of joy promised to those who will dwell with him will not be lost if loved ones choose not to partake of his invitation.

You are right in saying that what we consider to be the greatest opportunity for the eternities, being bound to our worthy loved ones, could also be a great sadness, if we lose them.

Sincerely,

Donny Osmond
