Question I;m still a huge Fan, I haven;t said much lately, but Highly Admire You and the Osmonds, and still always will, nothing has changed!

My favorite Christmas song is Mary did you Know, I get teary eyed listening to you sing this, everytime, My question is the line.,when you kiss your little baby you kiss the face of GOD, This is saying that Jesus is GOD, this is what Christianity is!. Do you mind me asking, how do you feel about this line, that says Jesus is GOD? I sitll have many questions about Latter Day Saints, The people are Great, I love many LDS People but I have Questions.

Response Thank you so much for your kind remarks.

The thing we must understand, is that the word God we use as a title as well as a name. We know that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and The Holy Ghost are all three members of the Godhead or in other words, they are Gods. To me, the scriptures make this so very clear: “In the beginning was the Word [Jesus Christ[, and the Word was with God [The Father], and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made... “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,” (John 1:1-3;14)

We have become confused by the creed that was adopted at the Council of Nicea 325 AD called the Nicene Creed. It states that Jesus is “…one substance with the Father…”. I believe that this would be more accurate if it said that Jesus is of one purpose with the Father. To me, the prayer offered by Jesus in the upper room the day prior to his crucifixion, makes this eminently clear: “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are…Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:” (John 17:11;20 - 22)

Mary did kiss the face of God (Jesus) the Only Begotten Son of God [The Father] on this earth, who in his pre-earthly experience was the one who created it under the direction of The Father as Paul explains: “GOD [The Father], who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son [Jesus], whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” (Hebrews 1:1 - 2)

That song happens to be one of my very favorites as well. I remember that moment when I recorded it. I was also moved to tears that I just had to stop the recording for a moment to regain my composure. It certainly was a powerful moment for me and continues to be every time I hear it.

Sincerely,

Donny Osmond
