| Question |
I am wondering how do members of the Church of Latter Day Saints believe that an angel called Moroni gave Joseph Smith these golden tablets with "another testament of Jesus Christ" when in the Bible in Galatians 1: verse 8 and 9 says:
8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
How can the Latter Day Saints church then accept the "other gospel" that the "angel"? Moroni gave to Joseph Smith when the Bible expressly forbids it as it says in scripture above?

Dear Emil,
This is a great question.
The answer is very simple. As I have studied both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I can firmly witness to you that the Book of Mormon teaches the same gospel as the Bible. That is why it is subtitled “Another Testament of Jesus Christ”.
This is what a heavenly messenger declared to an ancient American prophet, Nephi, about 588 BC, concerning the records that would come forth in latter times as the Book of Mormon: “And the angel spake unto me, saying: These last records, which thou hast seen among the Gentiles, shall establish the truth of the first, which are of the twelve apostles of the Lamb [Bible], and shall make known the plain and precious things which have been taken away from them; and shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved. And they must come according to the words which shall be established by the mouth of the Lamb; and the words of the Lamb shall be made known in the records of thy seed, as well as in the records of the twelve apostles of the Lamb; wherefore they both shall be established in one; for there is one God and one Shepherd over all the earth.” (Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 13:40 - 41)
It makes so much sense to me that the Lord would proclaim the same gospel to the ancient inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere as he did to those recorded in the Bible, especially as we have learned that many of those ancient inhabitants were of the House of Israel?
I would like to invite you to view the multimedia presentation on the Book of Mormon which I have narrated for My Beliefs section of my website. I think you'll find it very interesting.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
