It would have been nice to be able to have served a regular full time mission, but when I was of that age, my career was such that everyone, including my parents and the leaders of the church, thought that I could do a lot of good in the world by continuing being in the public eye, by living an exemplary life and sharing my beliefs in every way that I could. I have continued as best as I know how to do just that.
The My Beliefs section of my website www.donny.com/beliefs.pl. and particularly the questions and answers and the multimedia presentations are efforts on my part to share what I believe so very strongly to be true. I sincerely hope that these efforts of mine are acceptable to the Lord. I try not come across as a fanatic or religious zealot, and I never want to offend anyone who does not believe as I do. I respect and appreciate other people’s faiths and I don't expect everyone to believe as I do. I sincerely love and appreciate my fans of all faiths.
The bottom line to why I take so much time and put forth a lot of effort in this particular section of my web site is becasue I really enjoy talking about my devotion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the strong conviction that I have that it is, in fact, the restored Church of Christ in these latter days and that there is a living prophet on the earth today as there was in Biblical times and that it is the key element in my life to a happy and successful family.
All of my sons, so far who have reached the age, have chosen to serve missions, Don in Southern England, Jeremy in Italy and Brandon in Scotland. We have been thrilled beyond expression with the growth, maturity and spiritual strength that have come to each of our sons through this wonderful experience. It's not an easy thing to do, in fact it's quite difficult to go to a strange place and attempt to share what is quite generally an unknown religion. I have said that when our boys leave for missions, we never see them again, because they return as wonderfully mature men.
Debbie and I look forward to serving a full time mission as a couple when we reach the age of retirement. My parents served in London and Hawaii on a couples mission after they had reached that age.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
