| Question |
In early 2001, I obtained a divorce from my husband. We have two beautiful daughters. We were sealed in the Atlanta Temple in 1991 shortly before the
birth of our first daughter. We were originally married in 1984. I have
since remarried to a wonderful man who loves and respects me. He is great
with my daughters and they love him very much. Their real dad does not see
them much. I also am not a member of the church anymore. I just did not
feel welcome anymore. I have joined my husband's church. I still have a
strong belief in God and try to instill his teachings with my girls. I even
still believe in many teachings of the church. I believe strongly in the
family unit. What does one do to get a temple divorce? Is it hard to do?
My ex-husband did not live by the Word of Wisdom. In fact, I found out
later, that he wanted to get sealed in the temple just to please his
parents. His ways, of course, led to other problems that led to our divorce.
What are your feelings about getting a temple divorce? By the way, I
followed you and your brothers careers while we were all young. I am only
two years younger than you. You still look great and your voice is even
better. Thanks for your time.

I am glad you have found a wonderful husband and that you are trying to create a strong family. I am so sorry you felt alienated from the church. I would suggest that you find your local Bishop and talk to him about a temple divorce. I understand that they are given, but quite sparingly. The Bishop will need to help you with the request which is submitted to Church Headquarters.
If you tell me your zip code, I can help you find the ward or branch where you reside. You can actually look it up on www.mormon.org.
Thank you for your kind remarks and for your enduring support.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
