If you can remember I am the non mormon parent of a daughter

who graduated from BYU and she is a very strict and devout mormon

I have struggled trying to believe what she believes.

She is now 25 and joined the church at age 18 because

you influenced her and through you she found the true church.

Please pray for me. I am searching searching searching.

Waiting for that bolt of lightening to hit me.

Looking for a sign that I need to belong to the LDS church

As you know, I have a deep conviction that it is Christ's Church which was lost from the earth because of the wickedness that prevailed during the dark ages, but has now been restored to the earth under the personal direction of the Lord himself; and this is all in fulfillment of scriptural prophecy. Please know that the Lord will not give you the answers you are searching for (see Matthew 23:39). The Lord said "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." (Matthew 7:7 - 8) The answer will come through the power of the Holy Ghost which is a still, small voice that conveys truth to our souls. Before the Lord left his disciples, he promised, "If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you...But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:15 - 26)

Paul wrote, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God...But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:9 - 14)

Even the scriptures were written and can only be correctly interpreted by the power of the Holy Ghost: "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (2 Peter 1:20 - 21) The promise is clear, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." (James 1:5 - 6)

My experience has been that the Holy Ghost can and will inspire us with such power and clarity that we can come to a sure knowledge of the truth, but it is obtained only by sincere and honest study, prayer and attempting to live the commandments (seek, ask, knock).
