Beliefs > Question & Answer > Comparing The LDS Church and Other Religions
| Question |
Just a brief update as I do not want you to think that I haven't been polite
enough to get back to you re: my visit as it hasn't actually taken place as
I haven't been contacted by anyone as yet.
However, I have recently taken up a Christmas position in a store I
previously worked for after being rung by them to actually ask me if I could
help them out, (God moves in mysterious ways!), bear with me- I'm getting to
the point! While working a couple of weeks ago at the till point, 2 ladies
came to me to buy some items and I noticed that they were sisters of the LDS
church, based in Sheffield. They are currently
serving a mission here in Sheffield and I managed to have time to have a
brief conversation with them and they have given me the 'phone numbers of
the elders in Rotherham so I am
planning to contact them when I can possibly find a nice QUIET moment so
God certainly does move in mysterious ways!
Do you know if it would be ok to tell them that, at the moment I only want
to visit and not convert?
I would be grateful for the benefit of your advice.
I hope you remember our previous conversation as I know you get thousands of
e-mails and that you are very busy.
BTW, thankyou for bringing your father and Virl with you on your last visit-
that was such an amazing surprise- my friends and I were speechless!
Liverpool was a perfect ending to what has been a very up and down yr for
everyone, including yourself, your concerts have kept a lot of people going
this yr and made tons of us really happy.
Love and God Bless to you and your family,

I am so happy that you are getting in touch with the missionaries. The fundamental doctrine of our faith is the principle of free agency. We know that our Father in Heaven has preserved that gift for his children.
The missionaries will encourage you to search with an honest heart and to pray and ask Heavenly Father to know if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is truly the Lord's own church restored in it's fullness
in these last days. If you do not personally come to this conviction and
feel that you should act upon it by baptism, no one will try to force you in
any way: "But, behold, the righteous, the saints of the Holy One of Israel,
they who have believed in the Holy One of Israel, they who have endured the
crosses of the world, and despised the shame of it, they shall inherit the
kingdom of God, which was prepared for them from the foundation of the
world, and their joy shall be full forever.
(Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 9:18)
Please keep me advised.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
