| Question |
On your website, you make this statement regarding Christmas.
"The origin of that particular date is really not as important as the
feelings of love and peace that are found during the holidays."
How can a holiday that teaches falsehoods be pleasing to God?
Jesus said at Mark 7:13 "...and thus YOU make the word of God invalid by
YOUR tradition which YOU handed down. And many things similar to this
YOU do."
Christmas teaches lies to children about Santa Clause and Reindeer. The
Christmas tree, Christmas lights, and other facets of Christmas are
based in Pagan rites and rituals.

I respect your opinion on this question and I can even understand your point, but it appears to me that the singing of carols, display of nativity scenes and the general good will that is prevalant at Christmas time is a positive thing. More that any one other thing, it brings to mind of the masses, the divinity of Jesus Christ. The three weeks leading up to Christmas Day has more of the mention of Christ in this world than all of the rest of the year combine. How could God not be pleased with that? The fact that some of these traditions have been generated by man and maybe even pagans, does not overshadow the celebration of the birth of, the divinity of our Lord.
Santa Clause, reindeer, gifts, snowmen, colored lights and cheer have not harmed one single child in my observation. Would you do away with Snow White, Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Cinderella, and all of the childhood imaginations because they are fiction? I agree that the materialism of Christmas has gone way overboard, yet the joy and love and peace of the season still outweighs the commercialism.
Thanks for your great question and opinion.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
