| Question |
I firmly believe that you do not have to go to church to be a christian.
People in the past have questioned what I believe in even going so far as to
say that I cannot believe in Christ.
I am a very busy working full time mum, do voluntary work and my husband
works away from home. Weekends are the only time that we have together as a
family and we always try and have a family meal on a Saturday evening.
Sundays I do try and have a day of rest but unfortunately I do not always
find the time to go to church, but I normally go on Remembrance Sunday and
to a St Georges Day Service and of course the usual family and friends
weddings, christenings and funerals.
I find people taking the lords name in vain offensive and I cringe every
time one of the women whom I work with say "Oh J... C... !"
I do feel a bit odd writing this e-mail to you, as like most people of my
age, I am told that I used to idolise you back in the 70's, but hey what the
heck you are human too !

Those who stand to judge you as odd or question your Christianity should
remember the Lord's warning to: "JUDGE not, that ye be not judged. For
with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye
mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote
that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine
own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out
of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite,
first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see
clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." (Matthew 7:1 - 5)
It sounds to me like you are a wonderful mother and a good person.
My concern, is a nonchalant feeling about showing up in church on only certain Sunday's. My wife, Debbie and I have found that attending church with our children has been a great strength to us and very important in the development of important qualities
of character for our children.
There may be something to asking the questions: "Is Christ's true church on the earth and if it is how can I find it?" And, if I knew that the church I
attended was the Lord's true church, would that make a difference in my
desire to attend every week and to be sure my children attended also?
I would be interested in your response to the presentation entitled, "Life's
Greatest Questions" found by clicking on Multimedia in the My Beliefs
section of www.donny.com.
