I'm sorry, I didn't get your name, but I appreciate your question. I have delayed the answer because we have been
working on a presentation that I feel will help explain our position
relative to other churches in a multimedia format.
Please know that I respect people who have strong beliefs and especially
those who live by their beliefs. I have always assumed that most people
belong to a church because they believe it to be the true church. I am
learning that more and more people are satisfied with the idea that it doesn’t
't matter which church a person belongs to as long as they follow their
religion. I can't say I agree with that. I feel that God is the
author of truth and that he is consistent. I could not accept a man made
substitute for his teachings, his authority or his organization.
I have learned that it is impossible to prove or to supply evidence to
convince anyone of my beliefs. The Apostle Paul taught "But as it is
written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the
heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth
all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of
a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God
knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit
of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things
that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the
words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth
not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." (1
Corinthians 2:9 - 14)
The prophecies in the Book of Mormon that have come true are too numerous to
list here, but the coming forth of the Book of Mormon itself is one of the
most important as prophesied by many of its Ancient American Prophet
writers. The coming of Columbus to the American continent, the colonization
of this land, the Revolutionary War with colonial independence achieved, the
plight of the natives of this land, the ancient record from which the Book
of Mormon was translated, being brought forth by a prophet named Joseph
whose fathers name was Joseph are a few of the specific prophecies that have
been fulfilled.
