You asked why non-Mormons cannot go into the temples and see the rooms. The purpose for our temples is to worship the Lord and conduct sacred ordinances, which only worthy members of the church can participate in. As a consequence, not only non-members, but also members who do not hold a temple recommend from their priesthood leaders, are excluded from visiting the temple. There is nothing secret in the temple; it is merely that all things conducted there are very sacred, and you can imagine how disruptive it might be to have people wandering about in order to observe and see the temple rooms. I hope that this is helpful.

Footnote from Bev:
Also when a new Temple is constructed an Open House is held, all members and non-members are invited to go to the Open House to tour the Temple building and learn more, before it is dedicated to the work of the Lord.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
