Very good question.
The scripture in which you refer to is as follows:
"For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed
the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he
formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else." (Old
Testament | Isaiah 45:18)
"The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever." (Old
Testament | Psalms 37:29)
There is an LDS scripture that reads: "...that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory."

This means just what you are interpreting from the two Old Testament scriptures. This earth will be celestialized and will be the habitation of those who qualify to inherit the mansions promised by the Savoir to his disciples.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Sincerely,
