| Question |
Donny,
My Mum died on the 10th Dec 2003, and my faith in God is now being
questioned. She was taken from me, I did not have a chance to hold her hand
or say goodbye. I want so much to tell her I love her, and miss her so much.
This pain inside me is so bad, if God loved me why has he taken the one
person who I need most. Do you think I will see her again, I am so worried
that she is gone from me for good. I am not a member of the LDS, but her
lose has caused so much hurt all around me, my sister and brothers, her
grandchildren and even my own grandmother, who has lost her eldest child,
for what purpose? I hope thrie is a reason because right now it does not
make sense.

I am so very sorry that your Mom died. I can feel your pain and how much
you miss her. Do you believe in prayer? If so, tell your feelings to our
Heavenly Father and ask that your Mom can know how much you love her and that you wished you could tell her goodbye. Ask Him for comfort and peace
and express your love to Him. If you pour your heart out to Him, I believe He will answer your prayers and your Mom will know how you feel and you can be comforted.
Before Jesus departed from the earth, He said to His disciples, "If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. And
I will pray to the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for
he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you
comfortless: I will come to you. (John 14:13 - 18)
I honestly believe in the power of prayer, but we must have faith enough to go to Him. It must be sincere and heartfelt. If it is, he will come to us in the times that we need Him most.
I am absolutely confident that you will see your Mom again. The spirits of all who depart this life go immediately to a wonderful place where they are greeted by loved ones. Thousands of people who have had near death experiences, but are revived, tell of the tremendous love and peace of the
spirit life. Jesus said to the thief who was being crucified beside him,
"Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43) It sure is hard for us to lose our loved ones, but we needn't worry about those who are passed beyond.
As you know, every last one who has ever lived life on this earth has lost loved ones and sooner or later we all will leave this mortal
existence. I know that knowing this does not take away the pain of the moment, but I hope it helps a little for you to know that we all have or will have this experience. I sorta think that one purpose of it is so we can understand and appreciate the resurrection and the gift of immortal life
which the Lord brought to all of us by His suffering in the Garden of
Gethsemane and on the Cross of Calvary. "But now is Christ raised from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all
die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.' (1 Corinthians 15:20-22)
This hope, this faith in Jesus Christ is vital in our lives for the very
reasons we are discussing here.
I pray that you will find comfort and peace you need. I hope this might somehow help.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
