Beliefs > Question & Answer > Word of Wisdom Questions

Question I hope you don't mind me asking this question, but I'm interested to know what, if anything, do Mormons drink at times of celebration? For example at a wedding, as a Christian, we toast the bride and groom with a glass of champagne and the same when a baby is born into the family, maybe even when you reach your 21st birthday, basically times of celebration

Response At wedding receptions and special celebrations, I have tasted some of the most delicious non-alcoholic drinks. We drink herbal teas, healthy hot drinks made from grains, soft drinks of all kinds and yes, even fresh water. :) In America, we like our water and other soft drinks with ice. We have noticed that this is not so common in the UK. I also try to avoid carbonated drinks just because there have been studies showing that Co2 is not that good for our bodies.

We have a health code in the LDS faith called the "Word of Wisdom". This standard of health has been practiced by members of our church for over 150 years, and has proven to be very beneficial. Studies have shown that the average life of those who live by this standard is 7 years longer than that of those who don't live by it.

Sincerely,

Donny Osmond
