I really am not sure what the pope meant by "the culture of death" but I'm assuming is the obvious, and that is the widespread disregard for religion and
basic goodness in the world. This is to me, as I'm sure it is to you, very concerning.
There is so much immorality, drug abuse, violence and corruption in the news every single day. I am also concerned with the threat to traditional family
life that is prevalent today. I'm pretty sure this is what the pope was referring to.
You mentioned your curiosity of religions in the world. I am also very interested in other religions and their origins. So, for your curiosity, please
consider the following: The Roman Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox churches claim the Savior founded the church, and they are still that same church. The
Protestant churches claim that the church the Savior established fell into apostasy, and so a 'Reformation' was necessary. (We also believe that there was
a complete apostasy but that a 'Restoration' was needed, not just 'reformation'.) The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claims to be the original church that Christ
established, which was lost and has now been restored as prophesied.
I think it is important for people to search religions and to find one that will help them live a good life and to help them understand the purpose and
meaning of this earthly existence.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
