Question Hi! I have two questions. My first question is this. When you're away from home touring or making apearances do you spend any time in church or praying? Do you pray while traveling any place special or just take some quiet time to do so?

My second question has to do with the recent sex scandal in the Catholic Church. I'm Catholic and have mixed feelings about staying with our church even though it didn't happen in my diocese. Anyway, I was wondering how the LTD and Mormon religion feels about priests sexually abusing young children. It's bad enough when it happens on the street, but in the church! That really horrifies me.

Response When I am out of town over a Sunday, I always find the closest chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attend Sunday meetings there. I use the following Internet address to find the closest chapel. CLICK HERE!

No matter where I am in the world, it's always an uplifting experience to attend church on Sunday. Regarding my prayers, I pray every day. There is no special place for this. I simply close my eyes and speak the thoughts of my heart to my Heavenly Father. I always begin and conclude each day in prayer and I try always to have a prayer in my heart that the Lord would bless and guide me.

Your second question had to do with the recent sex scandal in the Catholic Church. You said, "I am Catholic and have mixed feelings about staying with our church even though it didn't happen in my diocese. As you can imagine, just like you, I, and the LDS Church, feel just terrible about Priests who sexually abuse young children or anyone for that matter. The Church does not come out specifically and condemn Catholic Priests by specific pronouncement. What it does do is continue to guide and counsel all members of the Church to avoid the evils which surround us, including sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. The Church does not condone nor attempt to "cover up" such activities in any way.

You might be interested to know that our Prophet not only reminded us of this just last April, but also warned members of the Church that they would lose their membership if they were involved in such terrible things.

It may be helpful for you to visit with a couple of representatives from the Church to explain exactly what we believe and why. You might find great help and meaning in their message. After you have had a chance to hear and understand that message, you'll be able to determine for yourself whether it is worth pursuing. If you would like me to send them, please email me your address and telephone number and I will be happy to have them contact you.

Sincerely,

Donny Osmond
