Throughout the scriptures we read of warnings from prophets and apostles that in the last days there will be "wars and rumors of wars" and as we have
seen over these past several years, it certainly is true. Will it get worse? I have no idea, but I know that God knows and I know that he is mindful of
all of us and blesses his children when they continue to love and worship him and keep his commandments. My wife and I have found and have taught our
children that the way to find peace in the face of such "wars and rumors of wars" is by gaining a personal relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior by
learning all that we can about him, by keeping his commandments and by spending our lives doing good for others and helping
those in need. If we do that, there is a peace that comes to our hearts.
Now, as to your question regarding the earth being cleansed by fire,
that cleansing which the Lord spoke of will happen after his second coming when all of the wicked on the earth will be destroyed. And even though it is
conceivable but highly improbable that there may be some nuclear types of wars, these cannot burn ("cleanse" ) the whole earth. The scriptures
specifically refer to that cleansing by fire after he comes again.
May I make a suggestion? To help you find the peace which you seek, I would love to ask a couple of representatives from our church to contact you for the
purpose of explaining to you exactly what we believe and why. After you have had an opportunity to hear and understand their message, you'll know for
yourself whether it is worth pursuing and if it is, the peace which you seek will come to you. If you would like me to
