Yes, I can. Placed on top of that temple spire is a replica of the
angel Moroni (pronounced MOR-OWN-I, ending with the long I sound, not MOR-OWN-EE), who was the last prophet to write upon
the records of an ancient people who inhabited the Americas from 600 BC to 400 AD. His father Mormon was the one who
compiled all of that record and then gave it to his son to complete. It was he who returned to the prophet, Joseph Smith
in 1827 as a glorified being and took him to the records that were buried in a hill named Cumorah in upstate New York
(Palmyra), and instructed him over a four year period and prepared him to translate those records by the gift and power of
God into that book which is now called the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
The Book of Mormon contains the fullness of Christ's gospel and the
record of those ancient people who inhabited the Americas. He is that same angel which John spoke of in the Book of
Revelations (see
Revelations 14:6) when he said, "I saw another angel fly in the midst of Heaven having the everlasting gospel to preach
unto them that dwell on the Earth and to every nation, kindred, tongue and people." The Bible, coupled with the Book of
Mormon are testaments that Jesus is the Christ.
You'll notice that he Moroni is blowing a trumpet which symbolically witnesses that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been
restored to the earth in its fullness.
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we revere the prophet and angel Moroni, not only for his
faithfulness and great work while upon the earth, but for the blessing which he brings to all
of us through this marvelous book which does not replace the Bible but is a companion to it. Just as the Bible records the
history of God's dealings with his people, the Jews, the Book of Mormon records the dealings of God and Christ with those
who inhabited the Americas during that 1000 year period. If you do not have a copy of it, please let me know and I would
be happy to send one to you.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
