| Question |
Dear Donny,
I wanted to know if a wife who was married to someone who didn't treat
her very good while they were alive, would she have to stay married with
this man even in heaven just because they were married on earth. What if she
couldn't even imagine living the rest of eternity with him. Isn't it enough
that she stayed with him and didn't get a divorce on earth. How do you think
God would handle this, I'm sure there must be a lot of people, men and women
who feel this way.

I agree with you, that there probably are many men and women who feel this way. I know this; God is just, kind,
merciful and forgiving. He is not a game player, so to speak. He awarded us the great principle of free agency and does
not force his children to do anything. Because of that principle, if a husband mistreated a wife throughout their
married life on earth, that husband has violated his marriage covenants and is not worthy to be sealed to his wife
throughout the eternities. Heavenly Father is in control and will justly fix all of this and bless the woman if she will
remain faithful to her covenants, but he will not force her to remain with the abusive husband that she had on the earth. I
firmly believe this.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
