Beliefs > Question & Answer > Marriage

Question Hi Donny, I know that the Mormons no longer practice polygamy. However, with the marriage being sealed for all eternity, isn't it possible to be sealed to more than one person and therefore become a polygamist in the eternal heavens?? Also, do you believe that Jesus was a polygamist?

Response You are exactly right in that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have not practiced polygamy for more than one hundred and six years. You have also correctly stated that if the person’s eternal mate has died, it is possible to return to the temple be sealed to a second individual.

Regarding whether we believe that Jesus was a polygamist, there is simply no clear information on that subject and so I have nothing on which to base an opinion nor would I even speculate.

Sincerely,

Donny Osmond
