It was Emerson who said in his essays on self reliance "That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do. Not that the nature of the
thing itself has changed but that our power to do it has increased." I love the quote as well as the principal of it and I have found that I am able to
keep a pretty good spiritual balance in my life by never forgetting my morning and evening prayers, by taking a little bit of time everyday to study
the scriptures, by attending the temple as frequently as I can and by taking time to just ponder and be life itself and for my wife and children. Daily
gratitude for such things is such a necessity as we try and gain balance.
Does this mean that I am perfect, and that everyday is a happy no problem kind of day? No, not at all! Like you, I have many days which are
discouraging and frustrating. And just when I think that I have something solved or resolved, up it pops and manifests itself other ways. But,
speaking generally, I am able to find the peace that I seek with the message that I just outlined above.
Don’t forget that the Lord knows who you are. He has known you for eons of time. He loves you and is mindful of who you are and what
you need. He allows all of his children to experience trials and frustrations and disappointments in order to purify our hearts, minister to our
education and to become more kind and charitable and more worthy to be called His children.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
