I don't wish to be disagreeable, but I would like to clarify why I believe the way that I do in hopes that it might matter to you. As you said, you do believe that there is a God up there someplace. I presume that you believe that the Bible is the word of God through his prophets, apostles and His own son Jesus Christ and that it has been handed down through the generations to us today to strengthen our faith. If that is true, let's examine Deuteronomy 10:12. It says, "Fear the Lord
thy God to walk in all His ways, and to love Him and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul".
As we do such things we literally worship Him. Psalms 86:9 says, "All nations shall come and worship before thee". As well
as Psalms 95:6, "Let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker". Not only is verse 6 meaningful but
verses 7 through 11 clarify the thought even further.
There are countless other scriptures, which lead us to know His will
concerning our worship of Him, but probably not one better than John 4:23, which says, "Let the hour cometh and now is when
the true worshiper shall worship the father in sprit and in truth for the father seeketh such to worship him". I repeat
that I do not wish to be argumentative, but I do wish to clarify.
Regarding your perspective that you do not believe that God is concerned about what church we attend or not, but how well
we live our lives. We know not only from the teachings of Christ himself, while he was here upon the earth, but we know
from modern day revelation that He is very concerned, that "if we are to worship Him in truth, we must know the truth and
not be lead blindly by the "doctrines of men mingled with scripture". You have rightly said that He is concerned of the way
the we live our lives. The scriptures are clear on that. But the place that we are taught, enlighten and blessed to know
what it is that we must do is found in regular attendance at His true church where the gospel of Jesus Christ is taught in
its fullness.
As we progress and learn the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ, blessings come to us to know precisely how
He would have us live. I hope that this helpful to you.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
