Hi Donny.
I'd like ask you: Do you believe, that if you have this strong feeling in your heart... a
belief, a passion, something pushing you to accomplish something, or tugging you in a certain
direction etc. Is there a possibility that it might be wrong? Or do you think that it's the Lords
way of guiding you?
Also... if I may ask a second related question. Do you think "road blocks" such
as a Panic Disorder (which I currently suffer from Social Phobia/mild Agoriphobia) might be Satans
way of trying to hold you back? I don't know too
much about LDS. I have my own personal bond with God (I can't go wrong there), the only religon I've
been a part of is Christian.
No one's ever mentioned the Latter-day Saints, so I'd like to learn
more.

I believe that the Spirit of the Lord guides those who live righteous, Christ-centered lives to help them accomplish certain things to
benefit themselves, their families, and even all mankind. I think, for example, that Christopher Columbus was so guided to discover the
Americas when he did. I think that Thomas Edison was so guided. I think that those great individuals who have made discoveries in
transportation and electronics, computers, and medicine have been so guided for the benefit of all of Heavenly Father’s children.
Your second question asked if I thought that "roadblocks," such as panic disorder, which you currently suffer from, might be Satan’s
way of trying to hold us back.
Actually, I believe just the opposite. I think that when we suffer any physical or emotional ailment, as I have in the past with this
problem, there is a higher and greater purpose that attends it. For example, in the story when Christ healed a blind man (see John 9:1-3),
His disciples asked who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? The Savior answered and said, "Neither this man nor his
parents, but that the mysteries of God might be made manifest through him." The great blessing to all of us is to learn to be more
compassionate and Christ-centered in our dealings. Some people’s infirmities are given to them to test others just as much as they test
those who have the infirmity.
I believe that no trial we suffer is wasted. In fact, all that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently,
purifies our hearts, ministers to our education, and makes us more charitable and tender and more worthy to be called the children of
God.
If you’ll be faithful throughout your life, the Lord will bless you to overcome such problems as panic disorder and its related trials.
He will inspire you to know what measures to take to overcome such an ailment. I assure you that Satan is not given power to make
Heavenly Father’s children sick.
Concerning your closing sentence of wanting to know more about what we believe, if you would like me to send a couple of
representatives from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to visit you and explain exactly what we believe and why, I would
be more than happy to make those arrangements. I think you’ll find it meaningful. It will answer many of the questions you have in your
mind about the whole plan of salvation and the purpose for our existence. Email me back with your address and telephone number, I’ll
ask them to call on you.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
