Question I am currently reading The Book Of Mormon and I am confused about 2 Nephi 5:21. Does this mean that all black people are a part of the cursed tribe.

Response You said that you were troubled by Second Nephi chapter 5 verse 21 and you asked if this means that all black people are part of the cursed tribe.

As you learned from reading in the earlier chapters of the Book of Mormon, the Lord told Nephi to separate himself from his brothers Laman and Lemuel and their families, and know who their enemies were. The descendants of Laman and Lemuel are the original inhabitants of Mexico, Central America, and South America. They became the Inca and Mayan Nations. The word "blackness" is used to delineate it from a white or fair skinned people as the Jews were.

Blacks who have descended from African nations are not part of this original group. They were not Jews and did not migrate to the Americas at 600 BC, but came later to the Americas as a result of slavery.

Sincerely,

Donny Osmond
