| Question |
I believe in God and in Jesus Christ. I pray to Jesus when I need help in any way, and HE always answers my prayers, although not always in the way the I had
envisioned. With hindsight - though - they are always in a way that is for the better. You, and others, seem so secure in your belief of God, and so comfortable with what
you have. How do you know? I am a Catholic, although not as devote as I could be, but it doesn't feel "right" all the time. It seems so much by rote. I want a relationship
with God. I just don't know if I am so blind that I can't see what I have, or how I am supposed to go about it. Am I supposed to feel something different, or have some
insight I never had before? How did you know? I have talked to others and have been told to "shop around for the right church"...well how will I know what the right church
is?
I am not being disrespectful, I sincerely want to know. Do you have to be "saved" as they are in books? Why am I looking so hard, if I already have that, and just don't
know? I really think I need to make sure I am with God, where I want to be. I just have no idea how to know this. How do people know? How are they so sure and
confident? Why can't I feel that way?

this is a two part answer. The first is personal and it is the answer to the question "Why am I so sure in my
belief in God and so comfortable with what I have?". It is because over the years I have come to know personally through
study and prayer and through constant association, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His church.
This is not a protestant church. It was not started by any of the reformers. It is not a break-off from the Catholic
Church, it is not Jewish. This is the Church of Jesus Christ, restored to the earth in these latter-days, our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ is at its head. The same ordinances and doctrine which existed in His church while He was upon the earth have
been restored to the earth and we have that same priesthood power that He gave to His apostles while He was with them.
It answers all the big questions: "Who am I?, Where do I come from?, Why am I here?, Where am I going?, How can I get back
to God when I leave this life?."
The second part of this answer is that I would very much like to introduce you to two representatives of our church and
have them explain not only what we believe and why, but also clearly answer all of the above questions. Once you've had an
opportunity to hear that, you'll know for yourself whether it was worth pursuing, you won't be guessing.
I would be more than happy to do this for you if you want me to. Email me your address and phone number so that I can have
them contact you. Once you've had the opportunity to hear and understand exactly what we believe I'd appreciate knowing
what you think.
(Bev's comments: I used to wonder about this also. How could I KNOW for sure something was right? My answer was that I needed to read, ponder, and pray about the things I heard and read. When I did this and sincerely wanted to know, I felt so much comfort, peace and warmth which I knew to be the Holy Spirit.
(John 14: 26:
"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things..."))
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
