God our Heavenly Father is a God of order. All of his works have been done in wisdom and in order. The creation of the
earth, for example, was done systematically, in seven separate and distinct time periods over an unknown period of time,
which the Bible has called "days." But it is not clear exactly how long each of those "days" were. In any event, when
that creation was completed, man was placed on the earth by God. Over the next several thousand years, men and women grew
and learned to either accept or reject the gospel plan. God sent countless prophets to the earth to teach and remind them
of his word and commandments. As you know, in the meridian of time, our Savior Jesus Christ himself came to the earth,
again preaching his gospel and ministering to the people. He gave his life for all of us and in so doing agreed to take
upon himself all of our sins, transgressions, weaknesses, and grief if we would only keep his commandments, repent of our
sins, and live Christ-centered, worthy lives. This atoning sacrifice is Christ's gift to all of us and the mercy of it overcomes the justice
of God's law and is a wonderful thing available to all who will take advantage of it.
As to why you are not now sure about God and his plan of salvation of course is not something that I can answer because I
do not know you, your background, habits or understanding of things as they really are. I would say, however, that if you
are not as close to God as you once were, it is likely that he did not move away from you, but somehow you moved away from
him.
In answer to the question why you felt fear when you passed by two of our missionaries, I couldn't possibly guess. My two
oldest son's have decided to serve missions and my younger ones want to as well. They, along with more than approximately
60,000 across the world bring the peace of the gospel and the assurance that we can live together with our families with
Heavenly Father through the eternities. That is their message, coupled with the fact that God has called a prophet to the
earth in these last days. Who would not want to take advantage of those
things?
May I suggest that it might be an important thing for you to meet two of these missionaries in person and have them take
time to explain exactly what we believe and why. Once you have had an opportunity to hear those things, you'll know
precisely whether you should pursue this or not, but what I promise you is, that you will not be afraid. If you would like
me to do that for you, please email me back and I'll have two missionaries call on you.
(Bev's note: Back in the 1970's when I took the lessons from the missionaries, I remember before I did that I felt a new feeling. It was
almost an 'excited anticipation'-not sure how to describe it. I knew I had to listen to their message though. Once you begin talking
with them, you will know that they are bringing a message of peace and of truth. I asked tons of questions and 20 plus years later and I so
thankful that I listened to them, and consequently asked God the Father in prayer, if what I heard was true. It changed my life. Bev)
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
