It is a great question and I have wondered the same thing myself.
Interestingly, Joseph had not said much about the physical appearance of the Father and the Son and I suppose the reason is
so that people will ponder the message of the Savior more than anything. However, there a few things that have been said.
For instance, when Joseph was asked what color the Savior's eyes were, without hesitation, he said, "The clearest blue."
He also said that except for the sound of their voices, it is very difficult to tell them apart. That is, the Son looks
like the Father. That is not surprising to hear as we read in Hebrews 1:1-3, " . . . the brightness of his glory and the
express image of his person . . ."
Joseph spoke many times about the strength and majesty of the Savior. Which I think is a very interesting thing to ponder
since the pictures we often see of Christ from artists through the centuries often depict him as somewhat weak, effeminate,
and non-descript. But Joseph said just the opposite. One of the apostles during the early days of the Church, a man by
the name of Orson F. Whitney, had a spiritual
manifestation of the Savior where he described him as, "Somewhat taller than I." Brother Whitney was more than six feet
tall. Joseph also said of the Savior that there was incredible compassion etched upon his face and that his person and
being were both "beautiful and glorious."
As I said above, I think Joseph's reasons for not being more definitive than these things is to avoid sensationalizing the
looks of the Savior, but focusing on his message, commandments, and atoning sacrifice.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
