| Question |
Why is sacrifice (the
sheep of the Old Testament or Christ in the New) necessary? Why must
someone/thing pay for our wrong doing?
|
| Response |
The sacrifice of first born (pure) lambs in the Old Testament was done as a "similitude" or likeness of the sacrifice that
would be made by "the Lamb of God," our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When he came to the earth and agreed to provide all
of us with the merciful blessing of taking upon himself our sins, weaknesses, and grief. By so doing, it would be possible
for all of us to bypass the laws of justice if we would repent of our sins, keep his commandments and live righteous,
Christ-centered lives. This great atoning sacrifice on his part was
always in God's eternal plan of Salvation for all of his children. The test of this life and the test of our willingness
to faithfully keep God's commandments is rewarded by this sacrifice and will bless us eternally if we will be faithful to
all of God's gospel plan.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
