That’s pretty close to what is right.
Specifically, after we leave this life, we go to the spirit world, or paradise, where we rest from all of our cares and labors for a "season" as it
is called. If we have not had the opportunity to hear and understand the gospel of Jesus Christ, it is taught to us there. We have the
opportunity at that moment to accept it or reject it. As time goes by, we will eventually be resurrected; that is, reunited with our physical
bodies, except that the body and spirit reunited together in resurrected state will be a perfect and immortal body, not subject to sickness or
disease or aging. We will live forever with that immortal body. We will then be judged according to the way we have lived our life, whether
we have kept our Savior’s commandments and tried the best we could to live Christ-centered lives. It is after that judgment that we will
receive the degree of glory to which we are entitled.
You asked what happens to the earth. We believe that the earth will also be changed and will return to that same state it was in when it was
originally created by the Lord. As the missionaries teach in all of the discussions, which they may have done by now, considering the date of
your letter, I trust that you have learned much about where we came from, and where we’re going after this life. I hope this is helpful.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
