Beliefs > Question & Answer > Marriage
| Question |
The bible talks about predestination. In your opinion, does this
mean we are already destined to marry a certain person, live a certain
place, die a certain time, have a certain career, etc. If this is the case.
we wouldn't have any choices. That would mean if partners divorced, cheated,
murdered whatever it was all destined to be. What do you or your church have
to say about this?

| Response |
We believe that the doctrine of predestination, as found in some Christian churches, is false. To believe otherwise would say that God is
responsible for all crime, murder, and evil. We know that is not true. The great blessing of this life is that we were sent to this earth with the
ability to choose right from wrong, and to grow and progress as a result. If we were predestined to marry a certain person or to do certain
things, life would have no purpose or meaning.
If it would be helpful to you, I would be happy to ask a couple of representatives from our church meet you and take the time to explain what
we believe and why. There are many more things in answer to your question that I would like to share with you, but time and space does not
permit me to do so. Let me know if I should ask those people to contact you.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
