Are there any archealogy findings to prove the book of mormon is the word of God?
|
| Response |
There are many archeological findings throughout Central America, South America, and Mexico. They can give evidence of the existence of a people who migrated to that part of the world centuries before Christ. But, just as the archeological evidences of the Bible do not prove it to be the word of God, so it is with the Book of Mormon. Archaeological evidences are only interesting. Proof of its holiness is found in the individual testimonies of those who read, study, and subscribe to its principles. There is a great promise found toward the conclusion of the Book of Mormon, in the tenth chapter of Moroni. Verses four and five state, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, He will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost you may know the truth of all things." Therein lies the evidence. This is personal. You must take the time and have the experience of carefully reading and pondering this marvelous book. If it would be helpful to you, I would be happy to have a couple of representatives from our church call on you and personally give you a copy for your own study. When you have completed it, I would appreciate knowing what you think.
Sincerely,
Donny Osmond
