    This is the "Final" Moment

    11/18/09 35 Comments

When I first accepted the offer to do Dancing With The Stars, I knew I had my work cut out form me. Marie set the bar; it was third place or bust!

After Monday night's performance, I was a little nervous that my dream of getting to the finals wouldn't be realized. Let's be honest. Seeing three "sevens" in a row may mean you're lucky in Vegas, but the same isn't true when you're competing on the dance floor. It was one of those moments when you see your entire dancing career flash before your eyes. Unfortunately, I blinked and missed it all.

However, I was saved. And, received a place in the finals Tuesday night because of you -- everyone who is supporting me. It was your phone calls, your text messages, your online submissions that pulled me through. Thank you!

Now, the culmination of nine weeks filled with blood, sweat and tears comes down to this -- the finals. I'm learning four dances this week, and I'm going to give everything I've got to burn the floor. But, I'm going to have fun, whatever the outcome.

This is it. This is the "final" moment!

    The Only Man Standing

    I'm in the semifinals!

It seems like years have past since we started Dancing With The Stars; it's hard to believe the show began only two months ago. Am I getting tired? Yes. But, I'm not giving up; I want to go all the way.

Rehearsals are getting tricky now. It's during these times, when I'm burdened with this much pressure, that I need to find balance. It's true that hard work and practice are the quintessential components for dancing well, but you got to have fun.

These last couple weeks, I've started asking myself, "How do I maintain focus, drive and determination, and still have fun with the dancing?" This is a dilemma I'm facing right now.

If I work too hard and focus too much on the steps, I'm going to get caught up in the minutia of the dance and miss out on the performance. If I don't take it seriously enough, I'll never commit to memory all of the steps -- from the first down beat, until the last cymbal crash.

So, can I still have fun, and maintain focus?

Maybe there is no hard, fast answer to this question, but regardless, I'm going to make it fun. But, don't think for a minute that I'm not pushing through to be the last man standing. Oh, wait... Mya, Joanna, Kelly, me... I'm the only man standing.

I Stream, You Stream... We all chat on UStream

    11/10/09 12 Comments

Aside from flying home to spend time with family, I always look forward to my UStream chats. These chats break up my week's crazy schedule, and are a lot of fun. Besides, I'm a bit of a tech fanatic. So, when I found a way to incorporate UStream with donny.com... well, I'm sure you can imagine the excitement I experienced.

When the chats first got started, I figured they would be a great way to share what's going on backstage at the Flamingo and Dancing With The Stars. But, I didn't know it would be this much fun. By incorporating e-mail and my personal Twitter account, receiving questions became relatively simple and immediate. Watching the questions come in real-time is so cool. But, not cool enough.

I decided to "up the ante." Although I still wanted to use Twitter for the first part of the Q & A, I needed to make the chats really interactive. Therefore, I purchased a phone for people to call in. However, just giving out the phone number would make calling in too easy -- why not make a game out of it. :)

I'm really impressed with how much trivia everyone knows. Should I make the questions harder? Nah!

I can't wait to talk to everyone this Thursday. See you online!
