Conversion Story
Things That Really Matter
4/1/09I had never heard of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints ( Mormon Church) until when i was 16 in the early seventies. I, like everyone else in Britain, became aware of The Osmonds. I was struck by the way they conducted themselves and their obvious strong family ties and love for one another.
As many teenagers do, I did not live a completely wholesome life, I was unhappy, driven to do many things by peer pressure. I wondered about things that really mattered. Where did i come from? Why was I here on earth? Where was i going? I thought about these things but said nothing.
One day two missionaries from the Church knocked on my door, I was playing 'The Plan', an Osmond album that highlighted the very questions I was seeking answers to. I invited the missionaries in, listened to their message about The Plan of Salvation and Our Heavenly Fathers plan for our happiness. Through study, prayer and careful thought I came to know as you can come to know that the true gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth, that there are answers to the great questions of life.
I knew then why the Osmonds conducted themselves the way they did, why they love each other so much and why they are happy and sensible people. I became a member of the Church ( Latterday Saint) and have since served as a missionary myself, I have been married to a wonderful wife in The Temple. We have 4 great children and I can honestly say listening to the missionaries was the best decision I ever made.
I have had many opportunities to serve others in the Church. I will always be very grateful for the fine example The Osmonds set for me, they stirred my interest in these things but I did the studying, the prayer and I asked the questions then the Holy Ghost testified of the truth to me as it will to you. Try it and see.
May God bless you all.
