The Wind Beneath My Wings

4/1/09

One day I heard a laugh that touched my core. I turned around and met familiar eyes, even tho I had never met this boy before. He introduced me to the church as we began our journey as boyfriend and girlfriend. As I learned about the church, I always looked for biblical support. I had questions that other faiths could not answer and for the first time,as I learned of the LDS faith, I was getting biblical support as well as getting answers to my questions that made sence to me. I didnt, however, jump into the church. It was a process. I was just 17, young, full of questions, and had real intent to seek out the answers. My answers came if not through biblical study, or by a member of the church, it was by Heavenly Father Himself through the Holy Ghost. At the age of 18 I was baptized. I sent the young man that introduced me to the church off on a mission. He did not return home to me. Instead he married another, as did I. Almost 20 years later, I prayed for an opportunity to thank this young man,not only for loving me at that time in my life, but for giving me the most precious gift I could have ever recieved. He had given me the tools to survive a tough marriage. He had helped me build my faith, the same faith that I would lean on for the rest of my life. One day, I got a phone call. It was this man. Out of the blue. His voice touched my soul. His laugh again touched my core. Again, I felt how familiar he was to me. How comforting his voice and his spirit were to me. We had both been through a tough marriage. We both had been through a tough divorce and felt the pain of a broken value. "families were supposed to be forever" He had become inactive and was suprized that I was still an active member and serving in the Relief Society Presidency. I thanked him for giving me the most precious gift of my life and told him what my faith had done for me. And he shared how he had let go of the church through his hard times, but knew that Father was still beside him. I, in turn, directed him back to the scriptures and back to his faith. Two 1/2 years later, we were married. Finally together, forever, the way it was ment to be. I know we knew eachother in the pre-existance. I know we vowed to find eachother and to help eachother get back home to Father. And with us, we are bringing the love of 10 beautiful children and restoring thier belief that families CAN be together forever. I know this church is the true church. I know Father has a plan for us. And when we are on the right path, there is true contentment and joy in our lives.
