Conversion Story
The Family That Saved My Life
4/1/09I have been a fan of the Osmonds for as long as I can remember.
I was an only child, my father was an alcoholic and physically abusive to me, and my mother was very verbally abusive. I was adopted when my parents were 50, and I really can't remember the good times. The good times in my life I remember are my friends, music and the joy I had from the Osmonds. I knew there was something special about them even when I was younger. The joy was genuine and went beyond just "just a showbiz front". It was a sincere love for each other, support and something more. I later found out that the something more I was feeling was the Holy Ghost that just poured from them. At about 8 I started bringing books home from the library or any place I could find on the LDS Church. Coming from a Southern Baptist and Catholic Background in the South, you can imagine this was not a hit at home.
But over the years my parents accepted the fact or (ignored one) that I checked into this and was really curious about this church. One day my mother made the comment that I could find out more if I wanted. I wasted no time. I called, missionaries came over within a few days, and 2 months later at 15 I was baptized. The day after I was baptized the Osmonds came and gave a fireside in the Louisville Kentucky Stake. It was an awsome experience. I have been an active member ever since. I say they are the family that saved my life with all seriousness, because due to my homelife, I am not sure where I would have ended up if that family had not become a part of my life and the spirit that they showed, had not been so strong that it reached out and grabbed me thru a T.V. Screen, their music and concert settings. Nothing has changed. I still am a fan, and I still feel that spirit.I am eternally greatful to them. I am blessed to have a husband and 3 children, actually 4, ( one I hope to see in the eternities) Without the door to knowledge and opportunity they opened up to and I am sure thousands of others, the world for me would have been alot different.Someday I hope to thank all of them for the missionary work they have done for others, myself and for the posteriety that they have helped to bring to the Gospel. Thanks would never be enough, but somehow knowing them that would be more than enough.
