Conversion Story

The Best Choice of My Life

4/1/09

Hi Donny

I am greatful that you have this site to bear our testimonies and tell about oor conversion into the church.

I was raised in a non religious home. I thought it was normal to come home from school and do my homework with an alcoholic drink in my hand.

I loved listening to The Osmonds and thought the music was good. I was very impressed with The Plan and it made me start to think. As time passed I continued to listen to your families music and loved the songs that talked about God. I told my friend how much I loved your music and the songs about God. I knew she attended church I had no idea what church she attended though. One Sunday afternoon she invited me over to her house to listen to Osmond tapes to my surprise there were two young men in white shirt, ties, suit coats and name tags. She said these were missionaries from the church that she attends and that she is a Mormon like the Osmonds.

I took the missionary lessons and listened with a pure heart. The things they were teaching me seemed to be true to me then the Elders mentioned the pre mortal life and I knew at once what they were telling me was of God. All of my life I always knew that I had lived before my birth.

At this time I was 17 years old. I asked my parents if I could get baptized and they said NO in no uncertain terms. The missionaries told me that when I turned 18 I could get baptized with out their persmission. So just a few days after I turned 18 I made the most important step of my life I entered the waters of baptism. So in September of 1980 I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Through the years I have been blessed and had many trials. I married a non member and he joined the church and we were sealed in the temple at which time we had 2 children who were sealed to us. As time progressed and more children arrived he decided that drugs, alcohol and gambling took over his life, so in 1999 I became the single mother of 5 children.

My youngest son has been my inspiration and a big testimony builder. My son was born November 21 1996 a full term normal sized newborn. At his two week checkup he had lost over a pound. Every time he ate he spit up. He was diagnosed with severe reflux. Then at 6 weeks he was diagnosed with an ingunial hernia and had surgery a week later to repair it. He still continued to fail to thrive. He recieved many priesthood blessings but was still very week and not gaining weight good. Then one sunday I asked my Bishop to give him a blessing. He recieved an awesome blessing and afterward my Bishop said he could not say my son would be healed but he saw him as a grown man. A couple of weeks later my son who was now almost 7 months old still weighing less than 12 pounds had a surgery called a fundleplacation (they tied his stomach around his esouphogus). At the same time they placed a gastrostomy tube in him to be fed. Since that day he has grown stronger and stronger. My son is now just shy of turning 8 and will be getting baptized on Nov 28 2004

I am proud to be a member of the church and raise my children in the church. My oldest son is graduating seminary this year and talking about serving a mission.

So if it was not for this family called the Osmonds and their music I most likely would not be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I hope my testimony and conversion story can help someone else.

I leave this in the name of Jesus Christ Amen

Hi there, yes your conversion story has helped me. I am in the process of getting my Temple recommend for the first time and going to the Temple for my endowment. The Lord seems to have lead me to Donny's site here to read testimonies. I have read quite a few, and they all have the Spirit and are faith building for me for sure. Yours is excellent! Thank-you for posting it!
