Conversion Story
The Osmond Influence in My Life
4/1/09Growing up in foster homes as a youngster, in the 60's, it was required in California to expose young foster children to religion. As a result, I attended many deonominations. When I was 9, I visited Disneyland and saw the Osmonds perform there, and with Donny being only a few months older than I, of course I developed a crush. This of course grew as I did, and as I learned more about his family and their beliefs, I became more interested. I knew the Osmonds were "Mormons", and their church was based on family unity and love. When I was 11yrs old, I finally went to live with my father and his new family, but we didn't attend any church. Several of my friends invited me to go with them to theirs, but I never wanted to join. It wasn't until I was living on my own, several years later, that came across some Missionaries living in my apt. complex. Through several outdoor visits, I began to learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Well, I moved several times since then, and the Osmonds' music still filled my home, and I still thought about the special bond between their family. When my daughter and I moved to a small town in southern Washington, we found a Church being built across the street. I knew about the Youth programs and sent Crystal there when I saw a bunch of teen girls there. She brought home the Missionaries and although it took several different ones to convince me, I finally understood that this is where I needed to belong. We took the discussions together as Mother and Daughter, and were Baptised as members of this wonderful Church 10yrs ago last Feb.24th. I am eternally thankful to the influence of the Gospel that brought such talent to the Osmond Family and am grateful for My Heavenly Father for the perserverence of the Missionaries!! Thank you so much for being such a great example in my life, and much love to you and yours.
